Petri  Lindroos, Basso cantante

Petri Lindroos was born into and brought up in a musical family (father operasinger, tenor, Peter Lindroos), wherefor his musical career in a natural way took its beginning. He studied at the Sibelius Academy (Helsinik, Finland) first with solo piano as major subject, which though soon changed to solo song. His vocal teachers were Jorma Elorinne, Anssi Hirvonen and Jaakko Ryhänen. The diploma concert he sang in Spring 1995 and recieved his Master of Music degree at the same time. He has also studied vocal technic abroad privately with Kim Borg (Copenhagen), Franco Corelli (Milan) and Jeffrey Goldberg (New York).

Petri Lindroos has appeared as soloist with many orchestras (for instance with RSO(the Finnish Radio Sinfony Orch.) and the Finnish National Opera and the Savonlinna Opera Festival) and choirs all around Finland and in every Scandinavian country as well as in central Europe and in Russia (Moscow and St. Petersburg)

He has also been heard in several opera roles such as Sparafucile (Rigoletto), Filippo (Don Carlo), Leporello (Don Giovanni) and Mefisto (Faust) and in Radio and in Television for instance in the TV-operas Mahagonny (Weill) and Hund (=Dog) (Gothoni).

In the 1999 ”Lappeenranta singing competition” Petri Lindroos got second price and was extremely positively notified by the media as well in finland as abroad.  

In the seasons 2000-2002 Lindroos made his debute as Don Basilio (Il barbiere di Sevilla) in Oslo and was thanked for his comic as well as vocal skills. He also made his debute as  Filippo (Don Carlo) in Italy (The Ravenna operafestival, Brescia, Pisa among others) and got fantasticly good critics in the Italian (l'Opera) as well in the international media. Lindroos also made his debute at the Bastille Opera in Paris in the world premiere of Rolf Liebermann’s opera “Medea” in the leading role as Jason and was very positively noticed, and he ended the Leipzig Oper-season as Mephistopheles in Berlioz “la damnation de Faust” with praising critcs from the media. In the summer 2002 Lindroos appeared as another Mefisto, the one in Gounods’ Faust (Savonlinna Operafestival) and was thanked as well from the audience as the critics for his many-faced and strong interpretation.

In the seasons 2001-2004 Lindroos´ “main stage” was Oper Leipzig where he appeared as “Figaro” (Le nozze di Figaro, Mozart), Leporello (Don Giovanni, Mozart), “Filippo” (D. Carlo, Verdi), “Mephistofeles” (La damnation de Faust, Berlioz), Colline (La Boheme, Puccini) and Sparafucile (Rigoletto,Verdi). Since then he has also appeared in Helsinki, Brussels, Luxembourg, Paris, Milan, Tokio etc.
